Typolution

I recently found this wonderful video "Typolution" created by Olivier Beaudoin. The music that accompanies this video is "Nostrand" by Ratatat.

Reverse Graffiti Project

Reverse Graffiti Project
Video sent by bubblyfox

A short documentary about a technique called "reverse graffiti" or "clean tagging". The artist, "Moose" is the pioneer of this technique and uses natural methods and natural cleaners to create a large scale mural in San Francisco by cleaning pollution and dirt from the walls of the Broadway Tunnel. The film was directed by acclaimed documentarian Doug Pray.

Motion

Today I am starting a small project called "motion" (I can't think of what else to call it) The idea is that this will challenge me to photograph and record motion in differing ways. This first image is simply done by setting the camera to about 1/15th of a second and then moving the camera upwards as the shutter is released. I like the surreal look that it creates. Eventually I should have a number of photos posted on my website and will provide a link back.

The Haircut

I found this wonderful little short film this morning. The Haircut won the 2007 Best Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival's Short Film Corner. It is well worth watching.

"Where will the wind take me?" take two

I received a very good critique on my original "where will the wind take me?" image that pointed out that the image has a large bright area that detracted from the photo. Why didn't I see it before?

Anyway, I wanted to post a new photo that was an improvement upon the original.

Delicate dream catchers

Another from yesterday. I almost inverted the image because it becomes quit dramatic but decided to stay with the lightness of this image.

Where will the wind take me?

The weather wasn't too appealing today so I stayed indoors and did some macro photography. I collected this dandelion seed head from my backyard (surprise surprise). This is the one time that I didn't harbor any ill will towards these annoying weeds!

I positioned the seed head on a glass paperweight and placed it in a window where I could get some decent light. In order to get the full length in focus it was necessary to reposition it several times. When doing macro photography of any type, the slightest movement can have a huge impact on focus. This is when owning a tripod and being very patient pays off. All in all I enjoyed the process and will probably do some more of this type of work in the future.

I'm wondering if this would be a good candidate for a black and white conversion.
